The rise of fake youtube gurus: do not buy their courses

I am eagerly watching Mark Weins video, him making his yummy face on youtube, boom and suddenly an ad shows up, saying “do not skip this ad yadiyadayada click the link above if you are on mobile or link below if on desktop” etc. When I see this kind of ads, I know what to do, click and buy their courses with my credit card. Because that’s what they want. Right?

New fake gurus?

Below are some of the recent ads I see (at the time of writing this)

Well Tai Lopez still shows up. Back in the day, He was the man, dare I say, who opened the path to so called make money online ad with his infamous garage bookshelves and lambo youtube ad.

And now, not just me, all of us have seen this ad in this pandemic. I am guessing that big companies have dropped their ads rate and this charlatans are taking advantage at a times like this. Their ads tactics works almost like magic to people particularly who are doing 9-5 jobs. Because them people want to make extra money or even leave the job to make it big.

YTA or Youtube Automation method

One of the above ad that one guy calls is YTA method. All his course teaches is how to make youtube videos without ever showing one’s face. I will briefly try to explain here. He tells you to go to reddit and grab a paragraph and put it online text-to-speech. Download that speech along with that reddit paragraph. That’s it. And he charges $997 with the available spot counter going down by the second to make it scarcity. And this is just one of his ad out of many other he has.

I spent £££ in one of the course

Not Tai Lopez, one on the top second left, blonde hair and his name is Alex Becker. He was good when he first started. He did not have that annoying ads (but later on he did). I used to watch his youtube videos. He used to share ideas and knowledge of SEO (search engine optimisation) for free. Pretty much like tutorial video of any kind found on youtube. I did learn some few valuable lessons and practices.

There are some more who are not in the snapshot.

Later on he started to do webinar and unlike courses, he used to offer services to do outsource, in this case link building. He would do the leg work so that I and others do not need doing it. It was a monthly subscription of $200 (I think), and paid about 2 or 3 months. Before I had an e-cigarette website. Back then it was just getting popular. I used Alex service link building to rank my website to first page of google. So whenever someone would type ‘best e-cigarette’, my website would show up and if they went there and make purchase via my link, I would get a cut. I did make some money from e-cigarette but not much.

Later on he transitioned from link building to shopify dropshipping. I used to see his ad again of him somewhere in garage with a yellow lambo. But I did not click or buy anything from him since then.

Testimonial

There is this one unfortunate guy who bought Dan Lok’s courses and lost around $26k. I will share the video here.

Final thought

Any courses on youtube about making money online such as:

  • Amazon FBA
  • Sales or High ticket
  • Shopify dropshipping
  • Affiliate (Hight ticket)
  • Audible or kindle book
  • Youtube video automation
  • Real estate
  • Forex, option stocks trading etc.

Just skip the ad. If clicked by accident. Do not buy their courses.

There are plenty resources and genuine people showing how to do it on the youtube for free.
